The Greenway Garden began construction in 2018 and has around 90 growing beds, plus a large polytunnel. The garden has a large ‘community shed’ and a tool shed. In 2025, a solar array is being installed, which will provide light and electricity for the community shed. Over the past year, the Greenway Garden has been used by a variety of groups and activities, including:
The garden has a dedicated team of volunteers who come regularly to help with growing food and infrastructure projects. The Greenway Garden also has a relationship with Wester Hailes High School, where students have come to the garden for educational sessions and hands-on gardening work. There are plans to continue and expand this partnership in the future. The Greenway Garden seeks to serve as an ‘Outdoor Community Centre’, a vibrant community space, hosting a range of educational, social, and food-growing activities for local residents.
We have open sessions on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday 9am – noon. Come along to get involved.
